Skippy’s Plumbing and Gas A Local Plumber with Real Passion for the Trade

At Skippy’s Plumbing and Gas, we’re not just about fixing taps and clearing drains — we’re about doing honest, reliable work for Perth families and businesses.

The business is built on real experience, grit, and a genuine love for plumbing that started back in high school. Our founder, Jamie, started his plumbing journey in 2012, leaving school in Year 11 to pursue a trade. His first role was in roof plumbing — a tough introduction that didn’t quite fit.

After just a few months, Jamie made the decision to return to school, but his goal never changed. Still committed to becoming a plumber, Jamie enrolled in a pre-apprenticeship program while finishing high school.

At the time, he was living in Pinjarra and commuting to Fremantle TAFE — a 2.5hr journey each way by moped, train, and bus, leaving home at 5am. After a few intense days, it became clear that path needed adjusting — but the drive to be a plumber stayed strong.

Jamie pushed forward, finishing Year 11 and 12 in a single year, graduating with his year group, and jumping straight back into the plumbing world.

He started working for a stormwater company on new housing developments before landing a full apprenticeship in Perth. That meant another long commute from Pinjarra, but he stuck with it.

Over the course of the apprenticeship, Jamie worked with more than five different plumbing companies, and now over 10 years experience in residential maintenance, new housing, and commercial plumbing. He saw the good and the bad sides of the industry — and learned exactly what kind of business he wanted to build.

“You don’t have to be a genius to be a plumber — but it’s a trade that earns respect.” – Jamie
That simple idea has guided Jamie’s approach since the beginning.

At Skippy’s Plumbing and Gas, it’s about respect — for the work, for your home, and for doing things right the first time.
